In 1999 Laetitia published her first book. It's a nice book about her life. From her young years till her first movie. The first section here are from a stand at Barnes & Noble bookstore New York, where she promoted her new book.

The pictures are taken by Evan Agostini. In New York City November 29, 1999.If you were there at that time, it looks like you could get a signed book. The pictures here are rather small, but  if you look at them, I think you agree in that she sold a loot of books that day.

And some people brought more then one.... Here a fan gets his second book directly from the author.

(left)

Among this pictures, this is my favorite. Should have been there.

According to Laetitia her self, it looks like she sold a lot.

At least she i smiling   And smiling.   And the book is well worth to take a look at, more about that later.

This is another promotion, another place another time. More exactly at Galleries Lafayette, Paris in the year 2000.She probably sold some there to.  (the pictures are not of the best quality)

And what about the book. You can see the front cover at left. It's only a small picture copied from Amazon.Com. The book is all to big to fit into my scanner.

It's mad of good quality paper and inside you will find.......

The first pages: In the first pages you will find some very good pictures of Laetitia in BIG format. Here are some samples: all taken by photographer Dominique Issermann for Sport Illustrated 1999, the second for Details 1999 and the last one for French Elle 1998. (several more in the book)

Next part is called "Little Laetitia" There Laetitia tell us about how it was to be young in the French Country side with a Corsican father and a mother from Normandy. That she was told that her brother Jean Baptiste was more clever at school and how it was to get a little sister in Marie-Ange. (At right it's few samples of the pictures on this part. )

Picture from 1983, Laetitia is 3 years old.   Playing in the ocean with Jean Baptiste 1987. (Big diving masks!)   Line & Dominique Casta. 1987

After "Little Laetitia" there is apart called "In Corsica". It starts with, "To understand Laetitia you have to know Corsica" after reading this section you know why, and why Corsica means so much for her. (a few samples of the many pictures at right)

On a fishing boat in Corsican waters 1998     One of my all time favorite Laetitia pictures, from....Corsica   Almost the whole family together in Corsica 1995

Next part is called "Working girl". Here Laetitia tells us about how it was to be a young and till now unknown girl, with one leg in the model branch and one at school. From the book: Laetitia tells what her father  Dominique told her before the first day at Madison: "He said to me, 'You're my daughter, and for me you are the best and most beautiful, but other people may not think so.' He didn't want me to get hurt, he didn't want me to dream to much." In this part of the book you can read about how she meet Yves Saint Lauren a meeting that has resulted in a friendship between them. There is a part for Guess?, for Victoria's Secret,  Sport Illustrated, Rolling Stone, Pirelli Calendar and Loreal. In the row under this there are some samples of the pictures on this pages.

  Italian Vogue 1993     For Y.S.Laurent 1998   Y.S.Laurent show 1998   Victoria's secret 1999
At left Laetitia & Marie-Ange playing after a Yves Saint Laurent meeting in 1998. Line & Laure (grand mother) follows.
Victoria's secret 1999     Rolling Stone Magazine 1998   For Loreal 1999

Next section: Her Star is Rising. The festivals like Cannes, San Remo, World Cup. You can read about people she meets there like Neil Armstrong, Gorbachev (!) What happened so on. Some samples from this section at left:

The pictures: First from left at San Remo festival in 1998, second from left Cannes Film festival 1998, the rest from World Cup tournament in 1998

There is a section from Laetitia's movie Asterix & Obelix. Laetitia tells us how it was. And there are comments by the other actors like Gerard Depardieu who says: "It was great to shoot this film with Laetitia-my head is still spinning! She radiates an incredible freshness, and is talented to boot."

Then there is a big section with big and wonderful pictures. Poesy by I Muvrini for Laetitia. Words by Dominique Issermann, Paul Marciano, Brigitte Bardot and Laetitia. Like this from Laetitia: "We are all like the Russian doll called the martryoshka- made with many layers. On the outside, my skin is as tough as a crocodile's. But in the smallest doll, in my most intimate sphere, I am tender, fragile, and sensitive."  (some samples at left)

A classic photo by  Freidmann Hauss for French Elle 1998   Black and white if you guessed for Dominique Isserman, then 10 points. For New York Times Magazine 1998   A special photo, have always thought this was for the Pirelli Calendar, but no, it's for Italian Vogue 1995 by Walther Chinn

The section above with big and wonderful pictures continues, it's over a 100 pages long. There are different theme's like Love, Books, Men, Beauty and many more. About men Laetitia tells us this: "When I see a man I look into his eyes to find his true self. I don't look at his body. It's his heart and his passion that will give me what I want. What interests me is a man's soft spot, his vulnerability. It's when a man is vulnerable that he is beautiful. When he is unguarded and honest, then a man is like a child." Some samples of the pictures below.

A classic photo of Laetitia for Top Model 1997     Looking right into his eyes, by Stephane Sednaoui 1999   Two US inspired pictures by Randall Medson 1997, (rather unusual Laetitia pictures.)   Another classic shot by Dominique Issermann.

For German Marie Claire 1996. Marlo B. style.      A beautiful "sculpture" like picture for Top Model 1997   For French Elle 1997 by Lothar Schmid for French Elle. One of my favorite pic.   For French Elle 1998, photographer Dominique Issermann.    A "dreaming" picture taken by Hans Feurer 1998. Probably at Corsican beaches.

My opinion:

The pictures and text in this page is just a few samples of what's in the book Laetitia Casta. There are several more pictures, mostly in big format and outstanding quality. Between the sections there are nice sketches done by Laetitia. And the best through  the text you someway learn to know her better.

I would have big trouble doing this site without the book.

The last section is about Family & My Island Home. "My family is the most important thing in my life. I would love passionately to have my own children. To have a baby inside of me-it's one of my dreams in life. I would love to hold my children, to run to them, to give them the same happiness my family gives me."

Where to get a copy:

I brought mine at Amazon.Com easy and fast.
