Magnus Nesse, Norway MF 565

First out is my neighbour Magnus Nesse from Norway. At left on a picture taken in 2003. Here with his late model MF565, The 565 had just turned 1800 hours when he brought it, today (Nov. 2005) the meter says 4500 hours. Magnus have had it for several yeas and until 2004 it was his no 1 tractor. It's now replaced as no 1 with a 1991 MF375 Turbo. That tractor is his firs 4x4 and a big improvement according to the owner. Very nice machine and an excellent tractor for farms here on the west coast. He still have the 565 and uses it for lighter work. Yea, he also have an old MF165 in a need for some rather big restoration...

All pictures taken on my farm, Magnus lease it, and is the only visitor here who didn't sent the pictures by email, he took the tractor with him :)

David Perrin, Wales. MF165 and MF240-4

David Perrin  who have been trained on the 100 series at the Training School in Warwickshire,  and have then been working with MF-tractors for over 30 years sent me these three pictures back in 2002. (Some have been on this page, but the late one took some time to get online )

Text from David: This is a 1965 MF 165. This tractor has had an external renovation by a customer of mine for a friend. I have had a thirty year 'love affair' with MF and particularly the 165. So I was very interested to see it rebuilt and offer any advice where requested. This tractor is a little different. It has two-piece rear wheels instead of the normal three and the tires are 38 inch and 7.50x19 which were not available even as an option at the time. The owner was happy to buy new mudguards to cope with the extra height. The restorer,  David Rees made an excellent job.

Text from David: MF 250 4WD is from 1985. It is one of two belonging to Porthcawl Power Boat Club and is used for launching boats on the beach at Porthcawl, a popular South Wales holiday resort. This was taken after I had finished a full mechanical check over and resprayed it in a chlorinated rubber based paint to help withstand the sea conditions. The wheel rims are all galvanised as is the extended rear ball hitch to allow 'novices' to reverse their trailers easier. The grill guard is my design and is similar on both.

THANKS for the Pictures and Information

  Dusan Kuster. MF1080 1972

Dusan is the owner of this very nice MF1080 4x4 from 1972. And this tractor is really working hard. Visit his web-site and you can see for your self. Look at the cab, the MF1080 with a 500/series cab? Yes Dusan took a cab from a MF595 and put it on his MF1080. He did a great work, it looks like it was there from the beginning. He says: "I work on it and mounted a original cab from a 595 which I bought last year. It fit perfectly on my 1080 because from transmission and backward the 595 its almost the same. The cab is perfect for forest work because is small regarding to whole tractor. I worked this year a lot and the cab is still untouched."

THANKS for the pictures and information.

Marten van Hooidonk from Holland. MF155 4x4

    Updated 28 Oct 2005

Marten owns a quite rare Massey a MF155 with  Manual-Selene 4x4 conversion. He says: "A Selene conversion set is pretty rare on it self, but this one for the MF155 is not compatible with a set for another MF tractors, I bought this tractor with engine damage and I'm working on it at this moment" Well look at the pictures, a really nice and rare machine. Some of them show the details form the Selene set.

28.10.2005. More info about the Tractor directly from the owner:   "I wasn't intended to buy such a tractor, but I was looking for a conversion-set to convert my MF 65 to a 4wd version. Then, about a year ago, I got a tip that this tractor was for sale on the internet. The only problem was that it had engine damage (probably frozen). A Perkins 203 engine is easy to find, but I didn't know there where two version. (one with a rope-seal and one with a lip-seal at the back-end of the crankshaft) It was hard to find the right one (with a lip-seal), but I found one. I don't know much about the history, but it seems it has spend his working life at an contractor. There were decals about this company on the tractor, which has got broke in the years 1995/96. The man from who I bought the tractor, told me that it had run on the beach at an society. That was easy to determine, because it has become rusty and the sand is everywhere. Nowadays the tractor get's a complete engine overhaul. "

Brand: Massey Ferguson Type: 155 8S Serial number: E 315092 Year: between September. 1974 and August. 1975. Tires: front: 9 x 24, rear: 13.6 x 38

Marten have his own web site, you can find it here:

Added October 2007

Email from Marten in July 2007. He has been working on his MF155 x 4 and writes:

To begin, the 155 is finally running. It still took some time, but the engine is done. Now some other problems appear, but it is useable now. It has already done some good jobs, so I'm happy with it.

The biggest problem is the steering, which isn't good. The wheels don't steer both the right angle and it gives a big turning radius and a lot of friction by driving curves. So I'll have to look after that.

THANKS for the pictures and information.
